New Style
Feminist- New Style: one generation to another
Dorothy Dunbar Bromley writes “Feminist – New style,” published in 1926, which was specifically geared toward the modern women. She wrote this in hope that women would understand her new vision of feminism and create a “revolution in manners and morals.” Women were expected to act, dress, and express themselves in certain ways. Women were restricted from their freedom in sense of not allowing themselves to be goal oriented and independent. However, Dunbar wants women evolve from a more conservative state to a generation that understands and desire more then what they, as women are expected of; based on culture expectations. This brings feminism into action women become a structured society that has specific views of what they should be allowed to strive for and, what lifestyle they feel they can deny. Feminist views whether it is old style or modern overall, are far from what their foremothers would ever imagine women to be fighting for. Feminists begin to go against an older generation which claims to know what is best yet become an enemy to modern women. Thus, a lead to a union of revolt against conformity and subordination not only creates unsettling tension between old views and new views, but it creates an unexpected change of gender expectations.
In many ways women have progressed through several generations of conformity. Before, what we call “Old style” feminism today; had to break through the foremothers of their time, which were women who strongly believed in following the vital rules of true women hood. This involved domesticity, piety, submission, and purity. Each of these traits must be followed otherwise women would not be in complete subordination of the husband, which was the most important role as a wife. Therefore, if women were not tolerant to subordination then it was expected that they would eventually face unfair judgments by other conformed foremothers. Eventually “Old-Style” feminist broke free and gained more women followers into the devotion and the lifestyle as an “Old Style” feminist. Old style feminist believed that men were the reason for the injustice between genders. They focused on their appearance to be more masculine by wearing flats instead of heels and chose to dedicate more of their time to finding stable employment rather then a relationship. Especially since old-style feminist started this break away from the conformity of true women hood their drive for equality and desires for the benefits that men have lead them to understand that specifically men were the blame for their suffrage. As for New Style feminist obviously go against their foremothers who are the true women hood conformist and the old style feminist. The more modern feminist explain themselves as activist for women rights as do the “Old-Style” feminist however, the modern feminist do not promote “man hate,” they often find themselves getting more involved and appreciating equality of both genders working together rather then against each other. They also separate from the old-style feminists appearance because they do enjoy fashion and looking presentable.
Dunbar explains, “Love may die, children may grow up but one’s work goes on forever (519).” This is an interesting view by Dunbar which, enforces the idea that modern feminist should understand that there is a value in working and creating a name for yourself. However, there is also a suggestion that a relationship and children is secondary. She explains “love may die” meaning that a relationship can succeed or fail there is no guarantee with love. She also states that “children may grow up” and leave the home and create a life of their own she expresses that a full time mother is not a full time job at all. Finally she states that a “work goes on forever.” Dunbar concludes her view that the original domestic roles for women were not in fact an important job as it is to have a legitimate career and creating economic stability for yourself as an independent women. Dunbar feels that women have no certain obligations to men, marriage or family. It is the modern women’s decision as to what she wants to make of herself as a successful person of intelligence. Modern feminist should not feel pressured to conform to a lifestyle of domesticity as well as being subordinate to her husband, but understand her value as a women and her ability to evolve into a women that understands the virtue of living a balanced life.
As women’s history moves forward there has always been a certain lead from a feminist persona. Women constantly show a powerful push for equality of their gender. However, specifically new-style feminist are primarily important because this shows a unity of women, which with out a doubt expresses that they are politically capable and authoritatively equipped in order to create an indestructible union with also cooperating with the opposite sex. Without this feminist union women would not have the equality and would probably be struggling with allowing our voices to be heard as citizens of the country and not as insignificant pink collard and subordinate women that rely under the controlled idea that women are to be of certain status under men. In addition, to why feminism has become such an enlightenment of women history is not only because it gave women a voice, but it also gave them the courage to actively stand up for their rights. During this time women were often treated submissively to their needs and wants, however creating a unity of feminism created a roar of a revolution that proved women are not diluted voices of opinion but are intellectual and empowering voices of what is the truth. Overall, without feminist old style or modern women would be hiding behind piles of domestic work and their superior husband.

Quote:
This quote was said by Roxanne Dunbar she explains that in order for women to change the world and get what they rightfully deserve they must educate themselves. understanding where women were in order to create a better future. Understand women's specific skills in order utilize them correctly. After that base is created she believes they will "break the bonds" of what society expect women to conform to. This quote embodies the women's liberation movement because for women so far it has been because of their determination and intelligence they have not only successfully evolved into a better form of themselves, such New Style feminism, but also broke out of societies pressure to conform and achieved many wins for their rights.
In the photo above I thought it was important because women are constantly given the stereo type that we are just catty and hold grudges about petty things and men usually just take a brawl over it and two seconds later are no longer dwelling. I feel this pictures proves women are have certain expectations for individuals no matter how petty it may seem to others, however when it come to a bigger picture such as women's right we CHOOSE to unite and get past the pettiness because women DO understand how petty the situation is; little things in way are just practice for our wrath of future revolts.

This is not the case for New Style Feminist! Modern day Feminist are NOT man haters. They also love to look sophisticated and feminine, however they still are ball breaking.... This picture is very significant because New Style feminist have evolved from this and it's important to show where they were and where they are now.

Reject Domesticity and Submission but embrace your right as a women to choose what you would like to spend you life doing. "Feminism is Freedom" is explaining how by understanding that women can do more for themselves, by rejecting the conformity of domestic lifestyles is beyond beauty.

Feminist have become a very blunt society and don't really hold back from expressing their own opinions. I felt this picture was appropriate because their ways of conveying people to understand why they feel a certain way is ultimately a good inconvenience.
street art has often a male dominate activity however, in this case the piece is done by a feminist named Tatyana Fazlalizadeh. She did this piece about an important social issue that women are still fighting today.
